Best Feats for Order Cleric 5e

May 10, 2023

Best Feats for Order Cleric 5e

by Prince Phantom

The Order Cleric is one of the few domains that significantly changes the playstyle of the typical cleric, focusing quite a lot on buff spells for their party and granting them extra attacks when they do buff them. We also get a great control ability with our channel divinity, leaning this cleric is less of an offensive and more of a defensive and control style of play.

Casting Spirit Guardians and wading into battle is still a great strategy, but it’s nice to get support for doing actual support things for once. Feat selection will still look pretty standard, as there aren’t any feats that really care about buffing our allies or bring any synergies with that strategy.

Best Feats for Order Cleric 5e

  • War Caster (Lv 4): Most of the best buff spells are concentration, and we really don’t want to drop them and disappoint our friends, do we? Our domain also provides us a few great control spells to cast on our enemies like Slow, and dropping concentration on those right after casting will basically feel like a completely wasted turn and spell slot.

  • Fey Touched (Lv 8): Misty Step and Silvery Barbs are spells that every Cleric would love to have, and we certainly don’t mind the bump to our Wisdom. Misty Step fills the hole of combat teleportation in the cleric list, and Barbs is a fantastic spell that gives us a use for our reaction and synergizes nicely with our channel divinity.

  • Telekinetic (Lv 8): If you are still committing to Spirit Guardians (which is still a very good strategy), then this is the clear choice. We can pull an enemy into the area of our spell, potentially dealing damage to an enemy twice in one round. Mage Hand and a bump to our wisdom is the cherry on top.

  • Resilient Constitution (Lv 12): This will keep our concentration secure for the remainder of the campaign, which is crucial to our success as a caster in high level play. Make sure to set your constitution to an odd score so this rolls you up to a new modifier.

  • Ritual Caster (Lv 12): No real synergies here, this is just a good feat, assuming you pick wizard and assuming your DM will work with you in finding and purchasing more rituals as the campaign goes on.
