Best Feats for Scribes Wizard 5e

Best Feats for Scribes Wizard 5e

by Prince Phantom

How fitting it is that the Wizard subclass all about books and reading takes as long to read and comprehend as an actual book. Yeah I normally try to summarize the subclass I’m talking about and mention the abilities to highlight any particular feats that have synergy with them, but that’s just not feasible with this one.

Instead, I’ll just say that this is a very good option with a ton of flexibility and utility, and our 6th level ability letting us cast spells remotely is incredibly strong. I know that the Evocation Wizard is typically seen as the box standard Wizard subclass, but this is definitely the most wizardy wizard to ever wizard in my eyes, and the feat selection reflects that as this list will look pretty standard.

Best Feats for Scribes Wizard 5e

  • War Caster (Lv 4): As with all casters we need to protect our concentration, and nothing does it better at this level than War Caster. The other bullet points are very dependent on your build and whether or not you find enough magic items to fill your hands.

  • Fey/Shadow Touched (Lv 8): These feats are both good for the usual reasons they excel, but we actually have an additional reason to take both of these and other features that give us extra spells like racial options. Since we know the spells, we can copy them into our spell book, increasing our versatility with our 2nd level ability and our durability with our 14th level ability. Great options all around, and they are pretty equal since all the best spells available are on the Wizard list already.

  • Telekinetic (Lv 8): As is true for most Wizards, we don’t have a consistent use for our bonus action, and there’s not one much better than the 5ft push offered here. We can use it to keep enemies in bad areas caused by our spells, disengage allies, free them from grapples, and much more. Improving Mage Hand and our Intelligence is the cherry on top.

  • Alert (Lv 12): Nothing wrong with improving our chances of going first in combat, which empowers our control spells greatly. Trapping enemies in a Web is best done on turn one when they are likely grouped up, away from your friends, and you get the most bang for your spell slot as you effect creatures for as many turns as possible. The other benefits of this feat are just gravy.

  • Resilient Constitution (Lv 12): This plus War Caster will secure our concentration into high tier play. Constitution saves are also the most commonly made save, even outside of concentration checks, so this is just great all around. If this improves your modifier, you’ll even get some extra maximum HP.
