Bowl of Commanding Water Elementals 5e

October 9, 2023

Bowl of Commanding Water Elementals 5e

Wondrous Item, rare

While this bowl is filled with water, you can use an action to speak the bowl's command word and summon a water elemental, as if you had cast the Conjure Elemental spell. The bowl can't be used this way again until the next dawn.

The bowl is about 1 foot in diameter and half as deep. It weighs 3 pounds and holds about 3 gallons.

Want a water elemental? You just need one simple ingredient: a Bowl of Commanding Water Elementals! The name is a bit of a misnomer, as it doesn’t let you command multiple elementals simultaneously, but it still can be a huge boon to your party.

  • Water Elementals have a robust suite of interesting abilities, from their Whelm action to their Water Form aiding in exploring narrow spaces.

  • Conjure Elemental has a major downside: when you break concentration, the elemental goes nuts and can try to kill you, so be careful!

  • Three gallons of water isn’t necessarily given to have at any given moment; make sure when you’re playing with this you’ve got a barbarian carrying a keg of the stuff, or otherwise have a Decanter of Endless Water or nearby water source to ensure you can get your elemental buddy out and in the action!
