Cloak of Protection 5e

May 17, 2023

Cloak of Protection 5e

Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)

You gain a +1 bonus to AC and saving throws while you wear this cloak.

Commentary by Sam West, Twitter: @CrierKobold

The Cloak of Protection is an easy, passive boon to any character who wants a bit higher AC, granting the wearer a +1 Armor Class. It does require attunement at least, making it a bit more taxing to attempt to stack with other AC bolstering items.

  • Artificers can create a Cloak of Protection at 10th level with the Replicate Magic Item infusion.

  • Wondrous Items aren’t armor, meaning a wearer can benefit from magically enhanced armor in addition to this cloak.

  • The Ring of Protection is another +1 AC item that requires attunement. Artificers like Armorers can easily start stacking these effects, ending up with ludicrously hard to hit Armor Classes.
