Stone of Controlling Earth Elementals 5e

December 17, 2023

Stone of Controlling Earth Elementals 5e

Wondrous Item, rare

If the stone is touching the ground, you can use an action to speak its command word and summon an earth elemental, as if you had cast the Conjure Elemental spell. The stone can't be used this way again until the next dawn. The stone weighs 5 pounds.

Commentary by Sam West, Twitter: @CrierKobold

Ah, Earth Elementals- the monster truck of the elemental family. They’re big, chunky sacks of hit points that beat anything in their path to a bloody pulp. This stone gives you control over one, but make sure you stay safe, else it may turn its ire upon you and your party!

  • Conjure Elemental requires concentration, and should you break concentration on that effect, the elemental becomes hostile.

  • Earth elementals have a long list of resistances, immunity to poison damage, a boatload of condition immunities, a 2d8+5 multi-attack on hit, and can move through unworked earth and stone with Earth Glide.

  • You don’t need to provide material, verbal, or somatic components to cast the spell with this stone.

  • It has sister items that all create the other elemental types- collect all four to master the elements!
