When you roll a 20 on your attack roll with this magic weapon, the target takes an extra 7 damage of the weapon’s type.

Vicious is more a weapon type than a unique magic weapon on its own. It adds some bonus damage to 20s, making it a lethal threat when paired with ample access to advantage!
Any weapon, ranged or melee, can be a vicious weapon.
The bonus damage doesn’t occur whenever you crit, only when you roll a 20 and crit- subclasses like Champion fighter and Hexblade warlock don’t benefit from their extended crit range with this ability.
Vidcious weapons are magical for the sake of overcoming non-magical weapon resistance.
