Armor +1, +2, +3 5e

October 9, 2023

Armor +1, +2, +3 5e

Armor (light, medium, or heavy), rare (+1), very rare (+2), legendary (+3)

You have a bonus to AC while wearing this armor.

Commentary by Sam West, Twitter: @CrierKobold

Like +1/+2/+3 Weapons, +1/+2/+3 Armor is a great item for any adventurer using armor to pick up to get a nice little bump to their character sheet.

  • The rarity of each modifier is one higher than their weapon counterparts, making magical armor generally harder to find than magical weapons.

  • Bonuses to AC tend to stack up quickly- early +1 armor on a Paladin or Bladesinger can lead to a lot of frustrations with lower CR monsters having a near-impossible time landing attacks on these characters.

  • Some AC improving features specify they only work on non-magical armor, such as Forge Domain’s Blessing of the Forge. These features don’t work on +1/+2/+3 Armor.
