Potion of Giant Strength 5e

August 16, 2023

Potion of Giant Strength 5e

Adventuring gear (potion), rarity varies

When you drink this potion, your Strength score changes for 1 hour. The type of giant determines the score (see the table below). The potion has no effect on you if your Strength is equal to or greater than that score.

This potion’s transparent liquid has floating in it a sliver of fingernail from a giant of the appropriate type. The potion of frost giant strength and the potion of stone giant strength have the same effect.

Potion of Giant Strength

Type of Giant Strength Rarity
Hill 21 Uncommon
Frost 23 Rare
Stone 23 Rare
Fire 25 Rare
Cloud 27 Very Rare
Storm 29 Legendary

Commentary by Sam West, Twitter: @CrierKobold

If you can stock up on some Potions of Giant Strength, you can juice prior to a dungeon and come bursting in ready to smash things. With even the Uncommon option providing over a 20 in Strength, any Strength-based character will find they’re invaluable in pumping up your to hit, damage, and Athletics modifiers.

  • These potions set your Strength to equal a specific number. Additional modifiers from Ability Score Improvements don’t stack on top of these.

  • Each Strength score directly correlates with the strength of the listed general Giant stat block.
