Ring of Protection 5e

December 15, 2023

Ring of Protection 5e

Ring, rare (requires attunement)

You gain a +1 bonus to AC and saving throws while wearing this ring.

Commentary by Sam West, Twitter: @CrierKobold

If the Defense fighting style gets you hot and bothered, do I have the item for you! A Ring of Protection is an integral part of stacking your AC so high your DM pulls their hair out when trying to balance encounters around a group with an AC range of 15 to 27.

  • You can wear as many rings as you have fingers, with no other limitations beyond the regular magic item limitations like attunement.

  • +1 bonus to AC and saving throws is a massive deal to many characters, especially when stacked with other similar effects.

  • This bonus AC stacks with +1 Armor and other AC bonus effects, but not duplicates of the ring itself.

  • Artificers can create these as one of their infusions at 14th level.
